The Wonderful World of Dance

Dance: Expression, Poise, Confidence, Fun - - - The world of dance offers so much to so many. “It’s Showtime” was developed by Mary Murtha, Director of the Wildfire Dance Team. For more than 26 years, Mary has choreographed and directed thousands of young ladies from ages 3 to 18. While studio dance is more well known, as in ballet, tap, and jazz, the Wildfire dance program focuses more on precision and the art of performing.

In the competition dance arena, the Wildfire Teams have competed at nationally recognized venues including Disneyworld, Universal Studios, and The Alabama Theatre in South Carolina. They are consistently ranked in the top three teams due to their unique costumes, props, and themed choreography.

Most of the students who enroll in Mary’s program have not had “formal” dance training. Building rhythm and timing skills are key to the development of young dancers and cheerleaders. Precision of movement makes the overall picture more impressive to an audience, so attention to detail is also stressed. The art of performing is always important, so a big smile and lots of energy in the movements are stressed in all of Mary’s dance routines.

This dance kit can be enjoyed by any child who likes to dance. The routines are taught with specific instructions. Whenever technical dance terms are used, they are explained and taught in the “Learn the dance steps” section. Most of all, kids like to dance with a prop! Whether it be a tambourine, hoops, or ribbons, it makes learning a dance more fun with the added element of color and flash!
